FGD has been delivering product to customers in Americas and Europe since 2019 and 2020 respectively and given covid this is effectively a launch of our products in Middle East. We offer a flame detection technology which is well known in the middle east, IR3 and UVIR, but with significantly Improved Performance (speed of response) for detection of Fires and Rejection of False Alarm sources (False alarms being the No.1 issue with users of IR3 and UVIR technology).
To that technology we have also added integrated Video Technology which gives Operators an additional “Security” element and a View in Real Time of any fire alarm. Why is this important? 1. Security cameras are mounted in safe areas and cover the fence-line, entry gates and doors to a facility. They do not normally cover a hazardous area because access is with permit only. With our HD camera the operator can see the hazardous area and use our video as a simple view or employ AI to detect movement of people or other objects. Operators have so much data now they can be overloaded with information in an alarm situation. When an alarm occurs quick and informed decisions are required to mitigate any incident. Being able to “See” the fire gives that final piece of information for the operator to make the right decision.
The global energy market is sound, oil & gas prices are bouncing back but there is a strong transition in the producers of energy and the climate change debate. Net Zero but 2030 or 2035 is a challenging goal but I have already seen the push from likes of ADNOC, Saudi Aramco to develop hydrogen technology and utilise carbon capture to help the world realise these very ambitious goals. To achieve this goal safely operators and producers will have to adapt their safety systems. Traditional technologies simply don’t detect hydrogen gas or fires. To that end we have produced a special variant detector aimed at Flame Detection of natural gas, hydrogen and blends of both which supports the transition as part of a flexible safety system.

In 2025 FGD Inc opened a new Branch office in UAE in order to improve service to our most important clients in UAE and throughout the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Providing Customer Service, Technical and Sales Support, FGD MIddle East Branch is here now to serve you. Iain Evans has been promoted to President FGD Middle East and will be relocating to Abu Dhabi. He will be responsible for building a team that can meet and exceed the demands of customers in the region.

FlameSpec IR3 Triple IR Flame Detector
Provides ultra-fast response, high performance and reliable detection of all types of hydrocarbon fires (visible and non-visible). Addresses slow growing fires as well as fast eruption of fire using improved triple IR (IR3) technology. Operates in all weather and light conditions with highest immunity to false alarms.

FlameSpec IR3-H2 Triple IR Flame Detector for Energy Transition
Provides unrivaled response, high performance and reliable detection for a number of fires found in
Energy Transition applications, such as hydrogen, methane, syngas, ammonia and methanol. Addresses slow growing fires as well as fast eruptions of fire using improved IR3 technology. Operates in all weathers and light conditions. These features, along with the built-in event logger, provide additional means to study the cause and development of fire events.

FlameSpec IR3-H2-HD Triple IR Flame Detector for Energy Transition
Provides unrivaled response, high performance and reliable detection for a number of fires found in
Energy Transition applications. Addresses slow growing fires as well as fast eruptions of fire using improved IR3 technology. Operates in all weathers / light conditions. Provides high-definition (HD) video output of the monitored area with near IR filtered imaging of fire events and personnel at distances up to 100 ft. (30m). This allows the rescue team to be aware of the exact situation before entering the hazardous area. Video and data of events are stored saved quickly to non-volatile memory for post incident investigation. The recordings start 1 minute before detection and continue for up to 4 minutes.

FlameSpec Blade Video Enhanced Flame Detector
Combines the superior detection, stability and reliability of the market leading FlameSpec IR3 flame
detector with the latest AI advances in video flame imaging, to deliver a new standard in flame detection.
The combination delivers extremely fast detection of visible hydrocarbon fires, with near total immunity to false alarms, including to those caused by Flare Reflections. The costs for a shutdown due to a false alarm on an FPSO might typically range from $500,000 to $5 million so it’s clear alarms due
to reflected flares are financially damaging.
